Installation

The installation is quite simple and consists of the following steps:

  1. Download the latest version ;)
  2. Extract the downloaded .zip file into your htdocs directory; the default is a subdirectory called rapa-version
  3. Optional: rename the installation root directory to whatever you like; for example album

After that RAPA is basically ready to roll, but, of course, there is a but ;)

The but includes two more steps in order to start using RAPA:

  1. Login to the admin UI and change the default password. You won't be able to use RAPA without that.
  2. Click the configure option and save it (Apache installations only).

The reason for the secod step is that by saving the configuration the included .htaccess file will be updated to reflect the chosen installation folder name. This applies, of course, only to Apache based installations.

It also means that you will have to do this every time you change the folder name (not that this will happen too often).

Alternatively, to make the .htaccess file work properly you can edit it manually.

Content

Content is stored in the shelf (directory). The current templates assume that the shelf itself will only contain folder (representing albums). Folder, in turn, may contain images, movies and subfolders in unlimited depth.

Meta data is stored in .ini files in each directory.

For each image/movie the ini file may contain a block with whatever attributes you see fit.

title and description are supported with predefined access methods, all other attributes have to be retreived using a generic get method.

Example:

[mycat.png]
title = Our cat in the garden
description = This was taken last summer in our backyard...

[thedog.gif]
title = ...
